Redesign of practical laboratory sessions in industrial engineering degree subject

Abstract
This communication shows the educational improvement method implemented in the practical teaching of the subject Environmental Technology and Industrial Safety, offered in the Degrees in Industrial Technologies Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the Universitat Jaume I. As a result of the analysis by the teachers of the problems detected in the practical laboratory sessions in recent academic years, the combination of different tools or techniques for teaching improvement has been proposed. The convergence of flipped classroom, the redesign of teaching/learning material and the use of evaluation rubrics have been proposed as tools for improving the teaching-learning process of the subject. Based on the results of the KPSI (Knowledge and Prior Study Inventory) assessment tool, used to compare the initial and final knowledge level of students, and the comparison of the grades obtained in relation to previous years, it can be affirmed that the methodological changes have resulted in an educational improvement. © 2022 by the authors.
