| dc.description.abstract | Infrared thermography is a non-destructive testing technique widely used in industrial applications. In this study, the ability to detect anomalies in stainless steel containers using infrared thermography is analyzed. The vessels evaluated consist of an external coil welded on its lateral surface whose function is to heat or cool the vessel, depending on the needs. The objective of this study is to identify problems in the weld joint between the coil and the vessel by means of infrared thermography. Low emissivities and specular reflections of metal surfaces make it difficult to detect thermal patterns associated with possible anomalies. Thus, this study demonstrates the need to shield the area near the surface of the container to be analysed by thermography to avoid specular reflections and to favor the detection of thermal patterns on the surface. | es |
